Höding, Diana
Biography:
Diana Höding was born on November 3, 1974 in central Ukraine. She studied fashion and textile design, but concentrated on art early in her life. Since 2006, she has been living and working as freelance artist in Magdeburg and Wolmirstedt.
In the age of technical reproduction and digitalization, Diana Hödin´s works seem to be a counterweight with their emphasis on materiality and the manual processing of materials. She is particularly interested in exceptional papers from all over the world. Often, she tears up what she finds or cuts up old units and finally forms playful new entities from them, which she complements with painting. Partly deliberately guided lines, partly color gradients left to chance, create compositions that, as Kant might say, stimulate the “game of the powers of cognition”. She uses our human associative faculties which we deploy when interpreting what we see, feel or symbolically understand: she creates original possibilities for the viewers to get involved with her work. In addition to mixed media works and painting, the artist also devotes herself to the medium of sculpture and installation.
Diana Höding has participated in many international exhibitions. She has been represented by the LDXArtodrome Gallery since 2020.
