Jung, Edith

Edith Jung was born at Karlsruhe on October 23, 1953. Between 1973 and 1978, she studied at the State´s Academy of the Visual Arts at Karlsruhe. In 1980, she received a stipend of the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and in 1982/ 83, she spent half a year at the Roman Villa Massimo (German Academy in Rome). Her works are in major art collections.

Edith Jung regards her works as creative discussions with her inner worlds. Thus the artist especially focuses on the border between the inner and exterior worlds in which she finds symbols that have a sense of the magical-sacral. They seem to less pronounce clear statements but rather cause a sensation and premonition on an archaic- timeless level. Layers of pigments reveal marks or signs. Large surfaces with little structures expose elements that look like codes or almost like gestures. Thereby the artist is heading for smooth movements of forms and bodies as if she was producing colorful sounds on two dimensional picture surfaces creating unique compositions as spacial illusions.

Edith Jung has widely exhibited her works and has been represented by LDXArtdorme Gallery since 2015.
