Körner, Carl

Biography:

Carl Körner was born in Ebersbach/Fils (Germany)on April 9, 1942. He studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and focused on Graphic Design and Printing Techniques, especially on wood carving and linocut,  which he continued to explore up to these days and which besides painting have remained his major way of artistic expression. He used to be chairman of the art association ‘Semikolon’ at Bonn for 23 years.

Carl Körner´s graphic work is unique, not only what the subject matter is concerned but also because of its detailed and complicated technical working process which includes up to 25 different steps spread out over many weeks for one work. He is specialized on “Visual Portraits”, especially portraits of great musicians such as Beethoven or Schumann. Usually, he does not produce editions but only unique pieces comparable to the uniqueness of a painting.

Carl Körner is also a painter. His early works speak a powerful artistic language filled with fantastic elements. These days he concentrates on pars-pro-toto–images with a stark realism, so called “segment-paintings” which he produces in extreme vertical formats and which challenge the human perception with their unusual cut-outs from reality.

Carl Körner is an experienced professional artist with many international exhibitions. He is represented by LDXArtodrome Gallery worldwide.
