Kotyba, Marion
Biography:
Marion Kotyba was born in Kulmbach on August 16, 1968. After having been trained and educated at the Textilfachschule Münchberg (School of Textiles), she focused her professional carrier on colour techniques, grafting, equipment and development of technical textiles. Since 2010, she has worked as freelance artist while entertaining a studio of her own since 2008. She is actively involved in teaching art to children and adults. Since 2014, she has also worked as teacher of the focus-ART-seminars on topics such as Rust, Ageing and Experimental Art.
The most striking element in Marion Kotyba´s work is the topic around “Rust and Aging“ as a technique within abstract acrylic painting. In this context, the artist interprets the interplay between colour, light, structures and technical possibilities with impressive vivacity and inventiveness. Especially her more recent works rely on observations which she had gathered over many years: she has now learnt to anticipate and make deliberate use of natural processes of decay that produce rust, cracks and the like. Marion Kotyba prefers to work in abstract series around certain topics. The viewers are invited to let their imagination run free over interestingly rough abstract surfaces.
Marion Kotyba has had numerous exhibitions in Europe. LDXArtdrome Gallery represents the artist in international exhibitions and shows.
