Abt, Simon

Biography:

Simon Abt was born on the 23 Decmber 1992 in Basel (Switzerland). Through courses in sketching and sculpting as well as a course for design at the Invers school in Olten he acquired practical, technical knowledge in painting.

He is particularly interested in the expression of the face and the possibilities of abstracting it without making the person unrecognizable herself. His style moves between an expressive use of color and lines and non-figurative alienation effects that produce this unique atmosphere of his paintings. Very fittingly he calls the tension between his impulsive alienation technique and the realistic moments also “spontaneous realism”. It underscores the impossibility to fully understand the individual as a person and her constant being-in-motion. His pictures thereby also portray situational, emotional worlds like “smoking”, “addiction”, “nervousness” and the like.

Simon Abt has been represented by LDXArtodrome Gallery International since 2019. He is a very promising young emerging artist.
