Biography:

Eric Hubbes was born in London (UK) on February 20, 1988. From 2013 to 2015 he studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Utrecht (Netherlands). He lives and works as a freelance artist in Cologne.

Eric Hubbes interweaves different areas, approaches and themes in his paintings, which are strongly influenced by the line. The viewer is constantly challenged by his „brooding pictures“ (Grübelbilder), be- cause his eye must not rest anywhere. He gropes his way from technical echoes, through written fragments to overly expressive color sounds, psychedelic states of consciousness and magical-spiritual enchantments. Hubbe‘s drawn virtuosity is like a whirlwind through the universe that takes everything with it. He leaves nothing out: the magic, horror, mysticism, symbolic and mechanical, the obvious and the hidden, life, transition, death. Thus Hubbes approaches the unspeakable, the enigmatic, which can only be felt in direct confrontation.
